Join us this summer for an adventure in Exploring the Sea at UACCB

Kids’ College will be held July 7-11 for kids entering Grades 1-3 in Fall 2025. 

Program Details:

  • Cost: $129 | Fee includes choice of two classes
  • Class Dates: July 7-11, 2025
  • Class Hours: 8 AM – 12 Noon
  • Class Duration: 5 Half-Days | Monday thru Friday
  • Snacks: Light snacks and a water bottle will be provided.

Class Schedule: Pick your two favorite classes! Classes are divided into two periods: first period and second period. Classes are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and will fill up fast. Don't miss out!

Under the Sea Arts & Crafts | 8 AM-10 AM
Instructor: Melanie Brustrom
Under the Sea Arts & Crafts offers a week of creative exploration, where students will craft ocean-themed projects to take home each day. From canvas paintings to 3D sea horses, glowing jelly fish and more, this hands-on class encourages artistic expression and a love for marine life.

Underwater Coding Adventures: Programming with a Splash | 8 AM-10 AM
Instructor: Jessica Christopher
Underwater Coding Adventures: Programming with a Splash teaches fundamental coding skills using Scratch. Students will create interactive underwater scenes using animated "Sprites" (sea creatures), add sounds, create dialogue, etc. all culminating in a final project to share with the class. 

LEGO Ocean Explorers | 8 AM-10 AM
Instructor: Denise Hogan
LEGO Ocean Explorers invites young builders to construct their own shoebox aquariums and populate them with LEGO creations inspired by marine life. Throughout the week, students will learn about diverse ocean habitats and animals, then use their LEGO skills to recreate these wonders.

Ocean Layers Adventure: Art Beneath the Waves | 10 AM-12 Noon
Instructor: Jessica Christopher
Ocean Layers Adventure: Art Beneath the Waves takes young artists on a journey through the ocean's five layers, combining marine science lessons with creative expression. Each day, students will learn about a new layer and use recycled materials to craft artwork inspired by the depths of the sea.

Dive into Coding & Robotics | 10 AM-12 Noon
Instructor: Denise Hogan
Dive into Coding and Robotics teaches basic coding vocabulary with an ocean connection through hands-on projects. Students will program Colby the mouse and build Cubelet robots such as a lighthouse, a boat, and a robot to discover how these skills relate to marine exploration.

Shark Week! | 10 AM-12 Noon
Instructor: Melanie Brustrom
Shark Week! at UACCB will be a hands-on, activity-filled experience for young shark enthusiasts. Students will dive into shark science, build shark models, create shark crafts, and play shark-themed games, testing their knowledge and making for a Shark-tastic week!

Parental Note: Kids' College is a summer enrichment program for kids entering grades 1-3 in the Fall of 2025. Children must have completed Kindergarten to be eligible for Kids' College. Limited to 25 students. Registrations will be accepted until the first day of class based on seat availability. 

Scholarships:

A limited number of partial scholarships are available on a first come, first serve basis. Call 870-612-2082 for details. 

Interested in Volunteering for Kids' College?

Volunteers entering 8th grade to adults (over 18) are needed to assist with Kids' College organization, set-up, sorting supplies, serving snacks, clean up, assisting teachers with children's hands-on activities and more. Volunteers receive a certificate for Volunteer Service Hours. Some high schools require volunteer service hours for graduation. Complete application here >> Kids' College Volunteer

Cancellations: To cancel a class, five (5) business days' notice prior to the course starting date is required to withdraw and receive a refund.

Instructor: Scott Phillips
In this 5-day Lego Robotics class, students in grades 4-6 will build, program, and test Lego robots to solve challenges, culminating in a friendly competition. Participants will enhance their coding, problem-solving, and design skills while transforming their Lego creations into functioning robots.

Kids' College is a summer enrichment program designed to spark the imagination and expand the knowledge of youth entering grades 1 through 6. Kids' College is held in July, generally beginning the week after July 4th. Student scholarships for Kids' College are solely funded by generous donors in the community. We appreciate your support of our program. Donations to provide a scholarship for a child to attend Kids' College can be made to the UACCB Foundation

Interested in teaching a Kids' College class at UACCB? 

To teach UACCB Kids' College, you will need to submit a course proposal here >> Instructor Course Proposal. Your Course Proposal must be submitted by January 31, 2025. 

If you propose to teach both weeks (Week 1: Grades 1-3 and Week 2: Grades 4-6), then you will need to tailor your proposal and projects to the different age groups.  Week 1 is July 7-11 for kids entering Grades 1-3 (Fall 2025). Week 2 is July 14-18 for kids entering Grades 4-6 (Fall 2025). Your course proposal is due Friday, January 31, 2025.
