Embark on an exciting journey into the world of drones and geospatial mapping! In this course, participants will learn the basics of drone technology, including flight controls and safety procedures. Through hands-on activities and simulations, students will explore the fundamentals of aerial photography and mapping using drones. By the end of the camp, participants will have gained valuable skills in drone operation and will have completed their first mapping project. 

Class will be held on July 30, 31, and August 1 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The cost is free, but students will need to bring money for a 30-minute lunch at the UACCB Grill, or bring a sack lunch and drink.

Participants will enhance their drone piloting skills through challenging flight maneuvers and obstacle courses. They will also delve into advanced mapping techniques, including data collection and analysis. With access to professional-grade drones and software, students will work on real-world mapping projects and develop a comprehensive understanding of the applications of drones in various industries. By the end of the camp, participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue further studies or careers in drone technology and mapping.

Kids' College is a summer enrichment program designed to spark the imagination and expand the knowledge of youth entering grades 1 through 6. Kids' College is held in July, generally beginning the week after July 4th. Student scholarships for Kids' College are solely funded by generous donors in the community. We appreciate your support of our program. Donations to provide a scholarship for a child to attend Kids' College can be made to the UACCB Foundation. To teach UACCB Kids' College, you will need to submit a course proposal here >> Instructor Course Proposal and complete a hiring application here >> Apply at UACCB. 

If you propose to teach both weeks (Week 1: Grades 1-3 and Week 2: Grades 4-6), then you will need to tailor your proposal and projects to the different age groups.  Week 1 is July 8-12 for kids entering Grades 1-3 (Fall 2024). Week 2 is July 15-19 for kids entering Grades 4-6 (Fall 2024). Your course proposal is due Friday, February 23, 2024.
