About the Instructor

Josh Ramsey serves as an Advanced Peer Recovery Support Specialist with the Izard County Sheriff’s Department and the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force. He is the Arkansas Affiliate Director of the National Peer Recovery Alliance (NPRA) and also leads Sharing Hope Through Lived Experience Ministries, Inc., which he co-founded in 2022 with his wife, Ashley. The Ramseys reside in Batesville with their eight-year-old son. Josh’s work extends across Izard, Independence, Cleburne, Stone, and Fulton counties.

Josh’s journey toward recovery began after struggling with substance use disorder for 30 years. After numerous arrests, he entered a faith-based treatment facility in October 2018. On September 18, 2024, he celebrated six years of sobriety, driven by a passion for recovery. Josh collaborates with two investigators as part of an Overdose Response Team (ORT), using his lived experience to support individuals who have overdosed and to guide their families in establishing effective recovery plans.

In addition to his work with the ORT, Josh is actively engaged in his community and church. He leads Celebrate Recovery programs in several jails, conducts Naloxone training, volunteers in feeding and ministering to the homeless, and spearheads community outreach for drug prevention. His dedication has earned him numerous accolades, including the 2021 Rising Star Award, 2022 Forensic Peer of the Year Award, and the 2024 Arkansas Peer of the Year Award. In recognition of his efforts, the Josh Ramsey Justice-Involved Peer of the Year Award was named in his honor.

Watch the whole online series here >>

Have you ever thought about keeping honey bees, but can't decide if you are ready to make that commitment? Our popular educational series, the Complete Beekeeping Short Course, is now available for you to watch online -- for free!  All lectures are presented by UA Extension apiculture specialist Dr. Jon Zawislak, an entomologist and EAS-certified Master Beekeeper. Learn more here >>

Testimonial: "Since 2013, I have attended five of the in-person Beekeeping training classes that Dr. Jon Zawislak has provided. Each class was a three part/three night presentation over a three week period. For me, beekeeping is such a wildly interesting endeavor. I could go on forever about the amazing honeybee. There was so much information provided in Dr. Zawislak's class that I could not absorb it all with only one round. I have never met anyone as knowledgeable and passionate about a non-religious subject as 'Dr. Z' is with his bee classes." Freddie Mohlke
