Spots will go fast—secure yours today to prepare for the future of farming!

What You'll Experience

  • Day 1 - Hands on Learning: You’ll learn the basics of Precision Agriculture, then head straight to the field to use high-tech tools that measure soil health, moisture levels, and nutrients. You won’t just hear about it—you’ll do it.
  • Day 2 - See Science in Action:Tour the Northeast Rice Research and Extension Center near Harrisburg, AR, and explore real-world research in the field. You’ll meet scientists shaping the future of rice production and precision farming. It’s your chance to ask questions, see experiments in action, and understand how data and technology drive better crops.
  • Day 3 - Drive the Future:Travel to Greenway Tech Farm in Newport, AR, and get behind the wheel of some of the most advanced John Deere equipment available. Test GPS guidance systems, auto steering, and the ultramodern machinery that makes farming smarter and more efficient.

Why It Matters

Precision Agriculture is transforming family farms across the country. With drones, sensors, and real-time data, even small farms can tap into technology to grow profitable crops, reduce waste, and protect their soil and water. Whether you dream of running your own farm or working in agricultural technology, this class is your first step into that future—and a pathway to an exciting career in modern agriculture.

Meet Our Instructor, Dr. Henry O. Akwah

Dr. Henry O. Akwah is a highly respected educator and agricultural technology expert dedicated to shaping the future of farming through cutting-edge innovation. As a faculty member in the Agriculture Technology program at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB), he serves a vital role in preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Dr. Henry earned his doctorate from the University of Arkansas in Agricultural Food and Life Sciences, specializing in Agricultural Education, Communication, and Technology. His groundbreaking research focused on the training needs of Arkansas agriculture teachers related to Precision Agriculture Systems—a field revolutionizing the way farmers grow crops through data-driven decision-making, GPS-guided equipment, drones, and real-time soil monitoring.

Driven by a passion for both education and innovation, Dr. Henry is committed to empowering students with the knowledge and tools to succeed in modern agriculture. He bridges the gap between technology and traditional farming practices, ensuring young people are equipped to thrive in an industry increasingly defined by precision tools and smart farming solutions.

Dr. Henry’s work not only inspires students but also contributes to building stronger, more sustainable farms for future generations.

If you’re excited about Next-Gen Farming, you’ll love what’s coming soon!

UACCB is launching a brand-new Precision Agriculture program in Fall 2025, designed to take your skills to the next level. This cutting-edge program will feature college courses like:

  • Intro to UAS (Drones) – Learn to fly drones, collect critical field data, and prepare for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification exam.
  • Intro to GIS (Navigation) – Map and manage farmland using GPS and spatial data.
  • Remote Sensing & Imagery Analysis – Harness high-tech imagery to monitor crops and boost yields.

Your summer camp experience is just the beginning—get ready to shape the future of farming with technology!
