RN to EMT Bridge

The RN to EMT bridge course is the fast-track way of allowing health care professionals who wish to advance their careers in EMS by working on a ground or air ambulance and taking their knowledge to where the action and treatment first begins. The health care professionals will be allowed to do online course work over a week and then be trained by other health care providers on EMS equipment before being checked off and testing for their national certification and home state licensure. The class will consist of an online course review over a period of one month of the EMT course at your pace with an online test at the end of each chapter. Then you will have a hands-on training the following week with other health care professionals in the same field. Ride along time will be provided for those who will need it after class or with prior arrangements.

ServSafe® Manager Certification - Exam Only

Prerequisite: This exam is only for students who have previously completed the full-day ServSafe training and need to re-test. 

Students can earn the ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification, accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP). The purchase of an “Exam Access Code” is a unique, one-time use number which the examinee must enter into the computer to access the exam. Only Registered ServSafe® Instructors or Proctors may administer the ServSafe® Online Exam. Either proctors or examinees may purchase Exam Access Codes. Purchased Exam Access Codes will be emailed directly to the purchaser’s email address. CDL Hazmat Endorsement

UACCB is offering an instructor-led online training course in CDL Hazmat Endorsement. The course is taught by Steven Huff, CDL instructor.   

Hazardous materials are products that pose a risk to health, safety, and property during transportation. Hazardous materials include explosives, various types of gas, solids, flammable and combustible liquid, and other materials. Because of the risks involved and the potential consequences these risks impose, all levels of government regulate the handling of hazardous materials. The course includes the information needed to prepare for the Arkansas Hazardous Materials endorsement test.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Future Fit provides the training to obtain the skills needed to be competitive when looking for entry-level employment in the field of manufacturing regardless of your job history. 

Future Fit trainees will be screened for participation in the Working for Independence (WIN) Grant program which provides pre-employment training support and wraparound services designed to reduce employment barriers through a three-stage process. Stage 1 consists of 96 hours of on-campus training, Stage 2 consists of 160 hours of on-the-job training, and Stage 3 consists of full-time employment with an hourly pay up to $2.00 above the standard base hourly pay if employed by a participating business/industry partner.

Qualifying WIN Grant participants will receive the following incentives and services:

  • Up to $150 per week paid stipend during Stage 1 (campus-based training) for participants that successfully complete the course learning requirements.*
  • Up to $50 per week in paid fuel stipend during Stage 1 (campus-based training) for participants that successfully complete the training requirements.*
  • Up to $75 per week paid stipend during Stage 2 (on-the-job training) for up to four weeks of verified work attendance.*
  • Access to supportive services and outpatient treatment for those directly or indirectly affected by substance abuse disorders.

*Successful completion of WIN program criteria required to earn stipends. WIN program funds are provided through a WORC (Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities) 3-DRA Grant funded through U.S. Department of Labor.

Class A CDL: ELDT Theory, Range and Public Road

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Training location: UACCB campus (2221 White Drive) in Batesville.

Tuition: $3,500.00 per student (100% tuition scholarship available, see below)

Length: 5 weeks; 8:30AM-4:00PM; 1st week is test preparation for the Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). Click here to view the full course syllabus.

Financial Aid Scholarship Available For This Course: 

In order to qualify for the free tuition scholarship, you must apply for the Arkansas Workforce Challenge (AWC) Scholarship through the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE). See information in "Step 2" below. 

The Arkansas Office of Skills Development (OSD) provides a 100% tuition free scholarship to any high school graduate who attends UACCB's CDL training and successfully obtains a Class A Commerical Driver's License. 

Complete the following steps to get started!

Step 1: Reserve your seat by registering for the class and holding your spot with a down payment of $75.00. This fee is for application processing and DOT Drug Screening. UACCB will defer payment on the remaining balance of $3,425.00 until the end of the course. Upon successful completion of the Arkansas State Police Class A CDL Practical Driving Exam, UACCB will award a scholarship to make your account balance zero. If you do not successfully complete the Arkansas State Police Class A CDL Practical Driving Exam, full payment is due within 30 days of the end of class. 

Click "Register" and be sure to apply the following Promo Code: "Class A CDL". Once you select "Check Out", then in the upper right corner, you will select "Add promo code". Enter "Class A CDL". If you fail to apply the Promo Code, your credit card will be charged the full course fee of $3,500.00.    

Step 2: Apply for the Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship by creating an account. You must submit all requested documents to ADHE as required. Upon completion of the application and providing necessary documents, you will be notified via email by ADHE, typically within 7-10 business days, that you have been offered the scholarship. You will need to accept the offer to receive up to an $800.00 reimbursement. This scholarship will cover a portion of your tuition. Upon completion of the training course, allow 2-3 weeks for ADHE and the OSD to process your award and provide reimbursement to UACCB Financial Aid. For questions, call 870-612-2082.  

Step 3: The Department of Transportation (DOT) physical is required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Although it is not required prior to taking your written exam, it is recommended that you schedule an appointment with a physician of your choice to get a DOT physical prior to registering for the class. You will be responsible for the cost of the DOT physical. The first week of class will prepare you for the written exam.

Step 4: After registering, you will need to purchase a CDL packet ($50) at any State of Arkansas revenue office. Note: It is to your benefit to have your DOT physical prior to purchasing your CDL packet. To purchase your packet, you will need your original birth certificate and a second form of ID (i.e., driver's license, passport, etc.). In addition, you will be required to pass a DOT drug screen before attempting any behind the wheel exercises. Call 870-612-2082 to verify that your authorization form for the drug screen has been sent to Sherwood Urgent Care. UACCB will cover the cost of the DOT drug screen. Do not attempt a DOT Drug Screen without approval from UACCB.

    • Must present original Birth Certificate to DMV, valid Arkansas driver’s license to DMV, and valid DOT Physical to DMV
  • Must pass a Arkansas State Policy Traffic Violation Background check completed by UACCB
  • Must complete a DOT drug screen authorized by UACCB
  • Must provide evidence of up-to-date DOT Physical (medical card)

The above items must be completed in order to continue in the course.

Full Course

Class B CDL Driver Training (School Bus and Passenger)

The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB) is offering a 36-hour hybrid training course for those interested in pursuing a Class B CDL. The in-class training covers the general knowledge portion for the written general knowledge and air brakes exams. The Class B CDL license will allow you to drive any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more. UACCB is an Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) provider. Instruction will include in-class and online theory, practice range, and Behind the Wheel (BTW) training for Class B. The practice range and BTW training will be performed in a School Bus Class B vehicle.

You must be 18 years old and have a current, valid Arkansas driver's license.

Financial Aid Scholarship Available For This Course: 

This course is approved for an Arkansas Workforce Challenge (AWC) Scholarship award (up to $800 per program) provided by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE). If you apply for the $800 scholarship, and are approved, then you can reserve your seat (first come, first served) by registering for the course.

Step 1: Reserve your seat by registering for the class. The class is limited to 6 students.

There are four ways to register:

  1. Register using a promo code to pay a $120 down payment to reserve your seat, and pending receipt of the AWC scholarship. If no scholarship, UACCB will bill you for the remaining $650.00. The promo code is: UACCB CDLB
  2. Register using a promo code to defer payment, and pending receipt of the AWC scholarship. Your employer must authorize for you to defer payment. This allows you to register with zero down payment. If no scholarship, UACCB will bill you $800. The promo code is: DEFERRED PAYMENT B
  3. Register using a promo code to bill your employer for the full cost of the course. If your employer will be billed, and no scholarship is needed, then skip Step 2 below, and go to Step 3. The promo code is: BILL EMPLOYER CDLB
  4. Register and pay in full, if not applying for the scholarship. 

How to apply the promo code:

Click "Register". Select "Check Out". In the upper right corner, select "Add promo code" and enter the promo code. If no promo code is used, your credit card will be charged the full course fee of $800.00.

Class Times (Tuesdays-Thursdays-Saturdays):

The class is from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26 and also from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays, January 21 and 28 or until skills practice (i.e., driving, backing and pre-trip inspection, etc.) is completed. This schedule is tentative and is subject to change. 

Course Textbooks:

UACCB will provide the JJ Keller student manuals for the online theory instruction.

Students will return their JJ Keller manuals to the UACCB Workforce Training Center, room 1201, upon completion of the ELDT Theory Instruction.

ELDT Theory Instruction and Assessment:

A portion of the training will include online theory instruction and assessment for Class B CDL. Access to reliable internet is necessary. Online (Blackboard) – ELDT theory instruction and assessment for Class B CDL must be completed by date: TBD. This is REQUIRED to obtain your CDL license. Do not schedule your Arkansas State Police driving exam until UACCB releases you for testing.

Welding for Production Manufacturing

Welding for Production Manufacturing is a 24-hour training course focusing on the basic hand tools, power tools, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process used in local manufacturing facilities. Welding instructor Loyd Barry will cover basic metal preparation, machine set-up and maintenance, and weld quality self-inspection.

This class will run for 4 consecutive weeks on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. Successful completers will receive an American Welding Society Certification.

The minimum age is 15 with parental/guardian consent. Welding helmet or hood, safety glasses and a welding jacket will be provided. However, you are welcome to bring your own supplies, i.e. work boots to protect feet, leather gloves, helmet or hood, thick cotton top, long sleeve jacket or shirt. 

Financial Aid Scholarship Opportunity: 

This course is approved for an Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship award provided by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE).
